I can see the light!

This weekend the clocks have gone forward and great British Summer Time has begun. And OMG the sun is ACTUALLY shining!

Hello sunshine!
Today I put my sunnies on and walked hand in hand with the hub to the riverside. We watched parents vying to keep control of their kids, as they threw bread to the geese, ducks... and pigeons. Lonesome dads walked past pushing bugaboo's, and family members laughed as they sipped ale, as the warm rays greeted them on their day of rest.

I have a smile on my face, not just because of the blue sky this weekend, but also because I've hit the 24-week mark. This means that inside my pregnancy bump is a little baby with all the features he'll possess when he's born. He weighs more than a pound and is around 28cm long. OMG, yes... I can see the light!

Nine months is a long time to be pregnant. In the early stages a woman is thrown into a brand new world full of hormones, tiredness and a change in lifestyle (well, the latter one if you're a wine-loving femme fatale such as myself). Then there's the HUGE wait to see if the baby is okay at the ultrasound scan. You then start to see your body change shape, including your boobs, hips and thighs! Thoughts such as 'does my husband still fancy me?' go through your head. As well as a lot of emotional ups and downs.

Weeks later, you reach the all-important anomaly scan at the 20-week mark. Here you anticipate and pray that the baby's developing well and can find out the sex of the baby... if you're impatient such as myself and my hub! But, one of the most important and most satisfying now is reaching week 24. 'Week 24' is so underrated!

If my baby was born now, then he could, with medical help, live to become a healthy little person. I still want to go another 16 weeks though, thank you! But the thought that I have a wriggling (and boy is he wriggling) little boy inside me is amazing. It's almost indescribable!

The hub and I have celebrated this weekend by buying a couple more outfits for our son when he's finally born. One says 'I love Daddy' and the other has lots of little guitars on it. Our boy is so cool already.

More sunny news is that Kym Marsh and Jamie Lomas has thanked fans for support after giving birth to her baby girl, Poppy, after the heartache of losing her son last year. And Myleene Klass has had baby a girl, named Hero.

Let's raise a glass (and I'll toast with my rockin' diet lemonade) to a sunny summer... fingers crossed.

Good toes: Fresh air and outside walks, and hanging the washing outside.
Naughty toes: A large portion of apple crumble and custard... although the apples are a portion of fruit, so that's surely perfectly acceptable. Although, the day is not yet over... :-P
